2019 and newer Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks may have this new American Axle Manufacturing (AAM) 14 bolt differential. The ring gear may be 12 or 11.8 or 11.5 inches.

PML designed this differential cover based on the stock cover from a 2019 Ram 2500. 2018 and older trucks have a similar looking differential cover but the shapes and bolt hole patterns are slightly different.

Check your factory fluid change procedure before ordering. The level check hole on the PML cover is about 3/8 inch diameter. If you need a large level check hole, for example a hole you can stick your finger in, you would need to use a tool or this cover may not work for you.

Always check your truck to verify your differential and clearance. Configurations vary. We do not know if all trucks or just some are getting these newer differentials.

Gasket: customers have told us that Mopar Part Number 68454491AA is the gasket for this differential. If your truck has a difference gasket part number, please double check.

Drain, Fill and Level Check, and Optional Temperature Sensor Machining

Drain hole is on the bottom of the cover. A magnetic drain plug is included. A drain on the differential cover makes for easier servicing of the differential.

Fill hole is near at the top at the 1 o clock position. Level check hole is on the side at the 3 o clock position. The bottom of the level hole is at the same location as the OEM cover level check fill hole relative to the differential center line. This means that you check the fluid level the same way with the OEM cover as with the PML cover. Note that on the PML cover, the level check hole diameter is about 0.300 (3/8) inch.

For people who have an aftermarket gage monitoring the differential fluid temperature, this cover has a location that can be machined for the sending unit. The area about the 8 o clock position can be drilled and tapped for a 1/8 NPT hole for the sending unit. Optionally, PML can machine the hole and there is a custom machining charge. Verify the thread specification of your aftermarket temperature gage sending unit before ordering. Customer must select this option. By default, the 1/8 NPT is NOT machined.

Included With PML Cover

PML includes new mounting bolts, fill plug, level check hole plug, and a magnetic drain plug with each cover. The washer for the magnetic drain plug can be reused.

The covers for 2019 and newer and 2003 and newer are similar but NOT interchangeable.

This PML cover, part number 11176, replaces this 2019 and newer OEM cover. Here are pictures of the outside and inside of the OEM cover.
