PML designed this pan for Chrysler Dodge 4, 5 and 6 speed transmissions: 68RFE, 66RFE, 65RFE, 545RFE, and 45RFE
Benefits:
- Drain and magnetic drain plug included
- Extra Capacity
- Heavy duty sand cast aluminum construction
- Finned on the bottom for heat dissipation
- Machined flat, large sealing surface for a leak free seal
- Clears cooling lines on 2013 and newer Ram diesel trucks
- 1/8-27 NPT temperature sender port and plug
Check your exhaust routing. Many Hemi engine trucks and SUVs have the exhaust under the stock pan and will need PML 2 quart over or stock capacity pan.
Always check your vehicle to verify your configuration and clearance.
Once installed the bottom of this pan is parallel to the ground.
PML designed this deep transmission oil pan to replace the stock pan on many configurations of these vehicles with a Chrysler Dodge 45RFE, 545RFE, 65RFE, 66RFE, and 68RFE:
- Ram 2500 and 3500, with Cummins diesel engine, 2007 1/2 and newer
- Ram 1500 with Hemi engine, 2002 to 2005
- Ram 1500 with 4.7 V8 engine, 2002 to 2011, check clearance on 2012 to 2014
- Dakota 2WD with 4.7 V8 engine, 2000 to 2004
- Durango 2WD with 4.7 V8 engine, 2000 to 2003
- Jeep Grand Cherokee with 4.7 or 5.7 V8 engine, 1999 to 2004
- Jeep Liberty, 2002 to 2004, 3.7 (check clearance, see Jeep Transmission Pan Guidelines web page)
- Jeep Liberty CRD, 2005 and 2006 (check skid plate)
- Jeep Wrangler 2010 and 2011 2.8 Diesel (check skid plate)
Always check your vehicle to verify configuration and clearance. This list is not comprehensive and other vehicles may be able to use this pan. This pan will not work on 8 or 9 speed or Aisin transmissions.
Jeep Owners: Some vehicles, like 2005 to 2013 Grand Cherokees, have the exhaust or frame near or under the stock pan. There may seem to be clearance for a PML pan, but there is probably not enough space. PML part number 11161 has not been tried and is slightly different from other PML 45RFE to 68RFE pans. See our Jeep Transmission Pan Guidelines web page.
Skid Plates: If you have a skid plate, you may need to move it downwards away from the transmission pan. Some Jeeps and a few Dodge vehicles have skid plates that limit clearance.
Trucks and SUVs with exhaust or frame members below the stock pan: for example, many Hemi engine vehicles have the exhaust under the stock pan and will need PML 2 quart over (part number 11079) or stock capacity (part number 11078) pan.
Check that the PML bolts do not bottom out.
The bolt holes on front and rear of transmission case are not through holes. The PML bolts have the same thread diameter and threads per inch but are longer than the OEM bolts. PML provides bolts that allow for the thicker flange and a gasket. The bolts may bottom out depending on the thickness of the gasket and the depth of the holes on the individual transmission. Do not over torque bolts. Make sure holes are clean and compare the hole depth to the length of the bolt, thickness of the pan flange, and gasket thickness when gasket is compressed. Allowing a bolt to bottom out may result in damage to the transmission case or leaks.
PML bolts are longer because of the thick flange on the PML pan.
Filter Information
This pan works with OEM/stock filters.
The filter bolts on to the valve body. No filter support or extension is needed. The fluid will be at the same level with a stock pan as with the PML pan. The filter will pick up from the same place. PML designs pans and covers to work with stock parts without the need for additional modifications or complications.
Thanks to Eric who provided part numbers for filters that will work with all PML Dodge RFE pans:
- OEM: 5013470AE
- Fleetguard: TF15072
- FRAM: FT1223
- WIX: 58843 (kit)
- MOPAR 5013470AE
Gasket Information
For a gasket, PML recommends an inexpensive cork or cork composite type gasket. Dodge/Chrysler recommends the Mopar silicon gasket maker, which comes in a tube, for many Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep vehicles. This will also work fine with a PML pan.
Drain and Temperature Sender Port on Driver Side
This is the driver or left side of the transmission pan:
The larger hole is the drain hole. A magnetic drain plug is included.
The smaller hole is the 1/8-27 NPT hole for a sending unit for an aftermarket transmission fluid temperature gauge. A plug for the hole is included.
Passenger Side
The passenger front corner steps down to clear cooling tubes on some 2013 and newer diesel trucks.
