PML designed this pan for vehicles with 4L80E, 4L85E transmission and needing a space saving, high quality pan.

Benefits:

• 1 1/2 quarts of extra capacity over the stock pan
• Less than 1 inch larger than the stock pan
• Drain hole and magnetic drain plug for easy fluid changes
• Finned for cooling

• The distance from the flange surface to the inside bottom of the pan is approximately 2.6 inches. This is about the same as the stock pan so the bottom of the pan supports the filter. A custom filter, extension or support is not needed.

Always verify your transmission and clearance. Vehicle configurations vary.

Many 1997 and newer vehicles have the frame cross member or exhaust running under the rear of the stock pan and do not have enough clearance for this pan. See PML Part Number 9437 for a transmission pan that clears the frame or exhaust.

PML also makes a 4L80E, 4L85E pan that is 3 3/4 quarts over stock. It is Part Number 9167.

Note for Hummer H1: This pan can fit on 1993 to 1996 H1 Hummers, but the frame cross member is very close. Check your Hummer to verify the clearance.

Jaguar XJS models with the 4L80 transmission have a stock pan specific to the Jaguar. PML does not make a replacement pan for the Jaguar XJS 4L80 stock pan.

Drain Hole and Location for Temperature Sending Unit

The rear and driver's side of the pan where the drain hole is located. All pans include a magnetic drain plug along with the mounting bolts.

On the passenger's side, the pan has a location that can be machined for an aftermarket temperature sending unit.

If you would like PML to drill and tap a boss, the standard size is 1/8 NPT.

Filter

There are two different filters for the 4L80. PML recommends the Early Model filter for this transmission pan. Example part numbers are:

• Pioneer Filter Part Number 746052
• Wix 58917

A filter extension is not needed.

The installer must verify fitment and installation. Be sure to check that the filter sits correctly.

Gasket

PML recommends a cork or cork composite gasket with our GM 4L80, 4L80E transmission pans. For example, Mahle Part Number W39379. This gasket is about 0.070 inches thick. Many other manufacturers also make cork/cork composite gaskets for the 4L80 transmission that would work great with this PML transmission pan. 

Cable Bracket on Stock Pan

Some stock pans have a bracket for the shift cable assembly attached to the flange.
